It is through activism in associations fighting AIDS that river meets queer and feminist theories and practices. He is also an activist in his work as a filmmaker, working to bring to life minority cultures, characters and bodies that are often invisible in fiction and documentaries. Co-creator of the Shemale Trouble trans parties in Paris, he is also resident DJ in the Marseilles collective Mouillette. Active in various transgender football collectives for many years, he is now on the right side of the Drama Queer Football Club. He is currently working on several queer film projects.
