Biography
Pierre Leguillon was born in 1969 in Nogent-sur-Marne, France; he lives in Brussels. He is a professor at HEAD — Genève (HES-SO). After a training in Visual Arts at the University of Paris 1–Panthéon-Sorbonne (1989–1992), he began his career as an editor and art critic. For about fifteen years, he has favored the form of the slideshow, then that of the exhibition, notably with his “Printed Retrospective” of Diane Arbus (Kadist Foundation, Paris, 2008).
A protean artist, he works essentially on the production and reproduction of images, of which he has an important collection, today gathered in his Museum of Mistakes, based in Brussels (“The Museum of Mistakes”, Edition Patrick Frey, Zurich, 2020). His collections are staged in installations but also in artists’ books (“Ads”, Triangle Books, Brussels, 2020), or in installations such as The Promise of the Screen, a speakeasy opened in Paris in 2007, which has since been installed in many cities (Bordeaux, Vienna, New York, Beirut, Oïta, Philadephie, etc.) at the invitation of museums, art centers, but also private individuals.
